After a year and a half a new version of the map editor is finally available, this adds support for a host of new client versions from 8.7 to 9.6, support for compressed maps and more.

The website has been moved to a different webserver (and is now powered by nginx), should be even faster now. :)

The harddrive in the server hosting this site crashed, which lead to some downtime. Everything should be back to normal now though.

I've set up a Twitter account to deal with communiction. I'll answer questions there and it's a superior medium to forum messages.

Version 1.1.11 has now been released, it sports proper 8.54 support (make sure your server is compatible), and several small improvements.

• Better Linux support, uses ~/.rme/ folder for configuration.
• Loads client data file IDs from an XML file, next version will update this file automatically.
• Fixed bug under Linux where you could not switch floor using the hotkeys.
• Editor now uses the correct 8.54 OTB, it will ask you to convert your map to the proper format the first time you load a bad 8.54 map.
• Rectangle around current view in minimap.

Version 1.1.10 of the editor is now live.

Changes include:

• Crash fixes when using custom sprites.
• 8.52 and 8.54 support.
• You can now select both map version and client version in the Map Properties dialog.
• Support for removing items by ID, and removing all corpses on the map.
• OTBM4 support (revscriptsys maps)
• Fixed H selecting the Creature palette instead of the house palette.
• Other minor fixes.

Also, the editor is no longer licensed under GPL. This is due to the non existent feedback from being open source, and because I'd prefer some of the futures planned for 1.2.0 to be closed-source (for security reasons). This should not affect anyone at all (except Linux users).

I recently put up an oldschool server. using the 7.4 client version. With slow rates and perfect quests & NPCs. I personally enjoyed the old client versions the most (before 7.6), and this is it again! Everyone who enjoyed the good ole' days should join in the fun!

Version 1.1.7 of the editor has been released. This is just a bugfix release for the previous one. While there are no new features some annoying bugs have been fixed, and it now works with 8.41 data files.

The new version is finally upon us! A nasty crash has been fixed, support for automatic recovery has been added and waypoint palette is now in the editor as standard!

You can get the file from the download page! First ten downloaders get a cookie! (No, not really)

If you have been beta testing, you need to uninstall the beta version for the installer to work correctly.

• Waypoint palette is now enabled by default. Hotkeys no longer fires in the text fields.
• Waypoint are now imported when using "Import Map"
• You can now have multiple palettes open.
• You can now configure hotkeys and the layout of the menu through the file menubar.xml in the data folder.
• Editor now makes temporary backups of the map while saving, and they can be recovered the next time the editor starts (if it crashed).
• Goto Position dialog.
• Fixed crash related to houses.
• Improved some dialogs.
• Fixed bug with recent files sometimes loading the wrong file.

A hotfix for 1.1.3 has been released, version 1.1.4 fixes a very serious bug that saved invalid maps for versions other than 8.4. Also, a crash has been fixed.

Hopefully there will be no more serious bugs now.

Version 1.1.3 of the editor has been released, new is 8.4 support and revised 7.6 support (previous versions accidently shipped with the wrong OTB file).

It's now been a year since the editor was originally released, and there has been quite some improvement since then.

8.4 support is on it's way, however, there was some hazzles with the new features, it will hopefully be ready this week.

1.1.2 has now been released! Finally the eraser is working again, and several crash bugs has been fixed. Also, a very evil bug related to the map statistics screen has been fixed, that caused all the towns to be corrupted!

8.4 is not supported, and the reason is that the OTServ software has not yet been updated to support protocol 8.4, once it is the editor will follow. Expect another update within a week or so!

Version 1.1.0 of the editor is now available! For those we haven't read the previous news, the flashy new thing this time around is tabs in the editor, so you can edit and view multiple maps at the same time!

There may still be bugs, so I advice you to make a backup of your map before starting to use the editor.

I've been putting alot of work into fixing bugs in the editor so 1.1.0 can be released this week, and hopefully nothing serious will come up.

The change log is as follows!

• Tabs, yes tabs. You can now view multiple maps at the same time, and copy/paste between them.
• Fixed bug that prevented the "Goto Destination" from displaying.
• Fixed bug that would cause 8.11 maps as being treated as "not-supported"
• The editor can now load 8.31 data files (still no change in format between 8.20 and 8.30).
• Added "Highlight Items" option to the view menu.
• "Out of memory" error should now be correctly displayed when exporting minimap.
• Multiple bug and crash-fixes.

As you can see, the main new feature is tabs, which will finally allow copy and pasting between maps, a much-requested feature.

A small bugfix version - 1.0.8 - has been released to address one of the more critical bugs in the 1.0.7 release.

This time it should work! :)

The editor has once again been updated (it never ends...), this time to version 1.0.7.

Mainly this is a bugfix release. But there is also two major new points, and that is support for clients 7.6 and 8.22.

However, everyone should know that version 7.6 support is experimental and that it only works with the 7.6 servers that uses items.otb, it has been tested with YurOTS 0.94d.

As many of you have noticed, 8.22 has been released, and alot of people seem to be struggling with the fact that the editor cannot load 8.22 data files. If you need the 8.21 installer, you can find it on www.tibiaclient.com.

In the meantime I can indulge you all on the fact that the next editor version will in fact support 7.6! Yes, it is true! :)

All Linux users craving for a binary can now rest, as Jiddo has compiled the 1.0.6 version of the editor for the public!

Version 1.0.6 of the editor has been released, this is just a small bugfix release due to the high number of errors found in the 1.0.5 release.

As is to be expected the Ubuntu release is lagging a few days behind.

You can now find Open Tibia releases in the download section, next to "Older Releases". Right now only the latest Avesta build is available (merged with the data branch).

Ubuntu Linux build of 1.0.5 is now available. All Linux users rejoice!

I'd also like to remind everyone of the Nightly Builds. With them you will always get the bleeding edge features, at the cost of possible instability.

Version 1.0.5 of the map editor has been released, new features include 8.20 support. lots of new brushes and better organization of the RAW palette. A system for checking for availability of newer releases. And of course -everal bug fixes. For a full list of changes see the change log at the download page.

Linux Ubuntu release should hopefully be available later today.

For those of you looking to start your 8.20 servers, it should be noted that no released server actually supports the 8.20 data formats, with the exception of the Avesta branch of OpenTibia SVN.

Hopefully the 1.0.5 release will come around any day now, and with it proper 8.2 support. Note that NO server except OpenTibia SVN actually supports the 8.2 map format so far. Hopefully they will be released soon.

While waiting for the release to come around you can take a look at the change log:

• You can now reload the data files easily by tapping F5
• Export minimap no longer resizes the main map
• Editor no longer crashes while loading/saving under certain circumstances.
• Editor should no longer display an improper error message when failing to load a map.
• Support for client version 8.20/8.21, OTB 3 and OTBM 1
• Editor can now load both 8.10 and 8.11 data files for version 8.10.
• Palette completely recoded, editor should now load alot faster. Also added more configuration properties to the palette.

• Fixed selection bug that made you unable to select 1 vertical line.

• Jump To Item/Brush dialog now displays images of the items you are searching for.

• Fixed coloring of the worm in snake, it is now a much brighter hue.
• Fixed bug where the title would not update under wxGTK (Linux)
• Improved doodad loading warning messages
• Added the "clear_optional_borders" attribute to doodad brushes.
• Fixed crash bug with "Recent Files"
• Find Item is no longer enabled when you have no map loaded.
• Map Conversion is now several thousand times faster.
• Spawn Radius is saved when closing the editor.
• "Select Creature" is now working properly.
• Editor no longer crashes when exporting a very large minimap (it displays an error instead)
• Added an update checker to the editor for future versions.
• Custom Monsters are now stored in the Application Data directory under Windows or ./data/user under Linux, so the original files are not cluttered with custom monsters.
• USE_MEMCACHED_SPRITES is now FALSE by default, editor will force this setting when loaded for the first time. Should reduce memory usage by 40-60 MB.
• Fixed a bug where the screen would go black when converting the map to another version.

This project now has it's own website! Enjoy the sleek design and excellent features.

Some parts are not yet done, like the Extensions. Hopefully this will be taken care of in the next few weeks.

The forum is at the moment private due to the overwhelming load of the OTFans server. In the future it will be opened up to the public eye again.
